Katie Whiting
Co-Founder
Katie Whiting, born and raised in Arizona, is a dedicated educator embarking on a new chapter as she starts at a new school. With six years of teaching experience under her belt, Katie has a deep commitment to fostering a supportive and dynamic learning environment. Her journey as a mother of six has enriched her perspective and teaching approach, blending personal experience with professional expertise to inspire and engage her students.

Stefani Borrego
Co-Founder
Stefani Borrego taught high school and middle school health and coached the Lathrop High School Ballroom Dance team for over 20 years in Fairbanks, Alaska. She moved to Pinetop in 2021 and has subbed at the local schools for 3 years. She is active in her church community. She enjoys recreational activities, playing board games, attending musicals, doing photo books and spending time with friends and family.

Allyson Petersen
Teacher
Allyson Petersen has lived in the White Mountains with her husband and kids for nearly 30 years, and she loves it! She thinks it is a beautiful place with caring people. She taught fourth grade for eight years, and she loves helping children and seeing them make progress. She enjoys books, food, walking, singing, and playing board games and card games.

Tanya Melluse
Teacher
Tanya Melluse, an Arizona native, graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Northcentral University in 2016. She was dedicated to Blue Ridge Elementary for nine years where she served as a 4th-grade Teacher and Team Lead (for 8 of her 9 years) in addition to many other roles. In her personal life, Mrs. Melluse enjoys spending time with loved ones, the outdoors, reading, movies, and spending time with her beloved animals. Mrs. Melluse is extremely excited to be commencing the journey with Explore AZ!

Jeffrey Whiting
Teacher
Jeffrey Whiting is a passionate and experienced educator who brings 15 years of teaching expertise to Explore AZ School. A proud graduate of Northern Arizona University, he has taught World History, American History, and U.S. Government throughout his career.
In addition to his love for history and civics, Mr. Whiting enjoys exploring science topics and engaging students in hands-on STEM projects. He sees these activities as a fun and creative way to spark curiosity and critical thinking in the classroom.
Mr. Whiting is excited to join the Explore AZ community and is committed to helping students make meaningful connections between the past, present, and future. His enthusiasm for teaching and dedication to student growth make him a valuable addition to the team.
